Terms of Sale

These are our standard terms of sale. Where a signed contract or a purchase order contains different terms, the signed document prevails.

1. Quotations

Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Prices are exclusive of VAT, duties and any local charges. Quoted dimensions and tolerances are the fired dimensions; pressing shrinkage compensation is ours to handle.

2. Orders

An order is accepted when we confirm it in writing. Where an order is placed against a drawing, the drawing version supplied by the customer at the date of confirmation governs. We will flag any dimension we believe cannot be held before starting tooling.

3. Tolerances and conformity

Delivered goods conform to the tolerance stated on the order confirmation. Alumina ceramics are brittle and may show minor surface variation that has no effect on function; cosmetic criteria only apply if they are stated on the order. Dimensional conformity is judged by the batch test and inspection report issued with the shipment.

4. Delivery and risk

Delivery terms follow the agreed Incoterm. Dates are given in good faith and are estimates unless expressly guaranteed. Risk passes as defined by the Incoterm. Partial shipments are permitted unless prohibited on the order.

5. Payment

Payment terms are stated on the order confirmation. For first orders we normally require a deposit with the balance against the bill of lading. Late payment may suspend production of open orders.

6. Inspection and claims

Claims for visible damage must be notified within 14 days of receipt; claims for hidden defects within 30 days. Goods must be stored and handled as ceramic: no impact loading, no steel tools used to seat tiles. Claims arising from incorrect installation or from use outside the stated duty are excluded.

7. Warranty and replacement

We warrant that goods meet the specification on the order confirmation. If a delivered batch fails to meet the agreed specification, we replace the affected goods. Wear life is a function of the application and is not warranted as a fixed period unless expressly agreed in writing.

8. Limitation of liability

Our liability is limited to the value of the goods supplied. We are not liable for consequential loss including production downtime, except where the law does not permit such exclusion.

9. Returns

Standard items may be returned within 30 days in original packing, subject to a restocking charge. Made-to-drawing parts cannot be returned unless they fail to meet the agreed specification.
