Industries
Cement, mining, steel, chemical, glass, electronics, food, water and battery plants — the alumina configuration we normally supply for each.
The same tile behaves differently in a chute and in a kiln. These pages set out how wear actually happens in each industry, the configuration we normally recommend, and the grade and thickness that go with it.
If your industry is not listed
We supply alumina ceramics into pulp and paper, waste incineration, fertiliser, sand and aggregate, and a number of processes that do not have a tidy industry name. Describe where the part sits and what is wearing it out — that is all we need to make a recommendation.
Describe the duty, get a configuration
Equipment type, material handled, particle size, temperature and current part life. That is enough for a written recommendation.
In this section
Cement & Mining
Cement and mining account for the largest share of the alumina we ship, and for good reason: it is where abrasion is…
Steel & Power
Steel and power plants combine the two conditions that are hardest on linings: abrasive bulk material and sustained heat. A layout that…
Chemical & Petrochemical
In chemical plants the limiting factor is rarely hardness — it is chemistry and temperature. Alumina is attacked by only a short…
Ceramic & Glass
If you make ceramic or glass, wear parts are not just a maintenance cost — they are a product-quality risk. Iron picked…
Electronics & Semiconductor
In electronics and semiconductor equipment the requirement is not wear resistance at all — it is electrical insulation, dimensional stability, thermal conductivity…
Food & Pharmaceutical
In hygienic processing the constraint is not only wear life — it is what the wear part puts into the product, and…
Water & Wastewater
Clean water is not abrasive — but almost nothing in a treatment works is clean water. Grit, sand, lime slurry, sludge and…
Automotive & Battery
Battery materials have a purity specification, and that specification is where ceramic wear parts earn their place. Milling cathode or anode material…
